Challenge:

During the 2018 World Cup in Russia, the significant time difference posed a challenge for U.S. soccer fans, many of whom were at work during live matches. Sprint aimed to help fans watch their team's games without missing out due to their work schedules.

Solution:

Sprint launched the "Soccer Mode" campaign in the United States, a creative initiative designed to bring the excitement of the World Cup closer to every fan. To assist fans in watching the games during work hours, Sprint set up a website where users could register their details, including name, phone number, and a preferable time to be contacted. The campaign featured a collaboration with one of the most recognized Latino soccer icons, who played a key role in engaging with the fans. Additionally, Sprint created "The Excuse Makers" – a feature where various actors recorded plausible excuses which were sent to users’ phones at the right time to help them get away from work tasks to watch the matches.
